Thread: Re-Doris Thorogood

Hello Everyone

I wonder if someone can have a look for a marriage for me to a William Johnson, first child was born in 1932 in Gravesend. I have looked and the only Doris Thorogood marriage I can find is 1927 to a Arthur Dalton.I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.

Have you tried looking for marriages of William Johnson . I know that being a common name it may be a long haul. I have a marriage certificate which has the name Sarah Thuggood but the only births I can find are for Thurogood and Thorogood.

Although the mother's maiden name is Thorogood on the birth cert of Muriel she may have been married before and therefore wasn't using the name Thorogood when she married William Johnson. I have checked all the William Johnson marriages and can't fond one to a Thorogood (have checked some alternate spellings such as Thurowgood and Thoroughgood) between 1925 and 1932 and likewise all the Doris Thorogood (plus alternative spellings) for the same period but no joy - Emeltee

Yes I did try that road but still know luck, I'm just wondering if she did marry Arthur in 1927 I have found a death that could be him in 1929 aged 20. What do you think, I'm pretty sure the family were from Gravesend maybe Dartford area.
