Hello
I don't know if it will be useful yet but Post Office Records of Postmasters etc. can be found in National Records
http://www.archives.gov/research/post-offices/
There is also a postal museum which has an archive

Thanks Victoria, unfortunately the first site is only USA info & the second only gives general info. However I'm grateful for your interest.

My apologies. I sent you the wrong URL
This is the Royal Mail one
British Postal Museum and Archive: The Royal Mail Archive
Archon Code : 813
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a...ils.asp?LR=813
Although there are not yet many records directly on line; as the blurb says "The Royal Mail Archive includes records of The Post Office and Royal Mail from 1636 to the present day, including working files, staff records, visual records (poster, photographs, artwork), stamps of Great Britain from the Penny Black onwards, and records of British postal markings over four centuries. Information sheets on key topics available via website. Public record material is also catalogued under POST reference on National Archives online catalogue. "
Thanks again Victoria, but no luck there either.
Best regards, Tom
