Thread: Scottish confusion?

I've had some luck on one of my ancestors and have gone off on a roll, but now I've come back to her marriage and am confused by what I've found. I know that she Sara Ann Taylor married Alexander Robertson in Motherwell on 6th June 1890. Sara was from Yorkshire a place called Kilnhurst. Today I decided to look on Scotland's People for their marriage cert, just to prove the other information which has come my way. Here's where the confusion comes in, I could only find one Alexander Robertson and Sara Ann Taylor married at that time, Alexander's mother is listed as Christina, which is correct, but Sara Ann's parents are listed as different people? I understand that these could be completely different people as a lot of families had the same names in those days, but if this is so, why can't I find any mention of my people? Can anyone help?

Is it possible she was illegitimate, or adopted? That might explain the different names.

No, I don't think so, I have the names of her parents and the info on Scotland's People has her with a different mother's name and the father's name being the same as her grandfather's!

Yes, I do have her on several census with her parents, I'm more and more convinced that it must be another two people with the same names on Scotlands People, it's very confusing.
