Hi Pauline,
I am not having any luck finding Thomas with Eliza.
In 1851 there are 3 Eliza Sharpley's
1831 Sutton, Cheshire, England (St Peter)
1834 MacClesfield, Cheshire, England
1835 Rainow, Cheshire, England
If you want further information on any of these, just let me know.
Hi starlight.
Thankyou for your replyOk possibly the 1835 birth in Rainow, same year and place of her spouse may be worth looking at. Thanks
Hi Pauline,
I'm not sure if this will be of any help.

Hi Pauline,
Are you sure that the 1881 census is the right one ? On the 1861 census this Thomas appears to be married to a Mary.
Hi starlight
Thankyou for your replies. I have only just logged on, I'll check what Info I have on the Census and get back to you. I can't remember off handI feel a little scatter brained today
I have the same family names as you have in the 1871 Census, apart from another addition to the Lomas Family.
John born c1876 Manchester Lancashire. 1881 Census address Green Booth Farm
Hi Paulinie
In 1841 at Low Brook, Rainow there is:
Martha SHARPLEY, 35 years, no occupation provided, born this county
Sarah SHARPLEY, 13 years, born this county
Eliza SHARPLEY, 7 years, born this county
Frances SHARPLEY, 3 years, born this county
I think Martha (above) was the mother, and the father (not mentioned in the census) Marcus SHARPLEY. I can't find a marriage for these two and there's more than one Marcus SHARPLEY around Rainow at the time. But from the naming pattern of the couple's children (twins Judith and Sarah, followed by Thomas, then Eliza and lastly Frances), I think Marcus was the son of Thomas SHARPLEY (1755-1837) and his wife Judith LOMAS (1766-1836). Can anybody confirm this link?
'Fraid I've got dibs on Thomas LOMAS b28 Jul 1834, Rainow mentioned in the 1871 census above. He first married Mary LOWE and their offspring were Elizabeth Ann (1861-1949), Mary Ellen (1862-1950) and Thomas (1865-1928). Wife Mary died 12 Feb 1865 and Thomas later married Maria Matilda LUCAS and had more children, the elsest John (b 1872). Thomas died 19 Jun 1907. Most of this information comes from his (and his wives) MI at Jenkin Chapel.
I hope this helps rather than hinders...

Martha SHARPLEY married George GARDINER at St Peter's, Prestbury, Q2 1842 but her maiden name isn't provided in any source I can lay my hands on.

Picking other peoples brains - trees published on the Internet... Martha would have been born Martha NIELD. But I don't have a good source.
