Thread: hodges family tree

I am trying to find more information on my grandads side of the family . his name was john thomas hodges born in 1901 in stourbridge.he died in 1964 in dudley and is buried at dudley cemetary. His mothers name was clara hodges and she was born in 1881. and she is also buried in the same grave she died in 1956 age 71

Was John's mother's maiden name Hodges, or did she marry a Mr Hodges?

she married a hodges but I dont know what her surname was

I have checked FreeBMD and cannot find a marriage between someone called Clara and a Hodges. If she died in 1956 aged 71 then she was not born 1881 but 1885. Not sure how to help. Was her name definitely Clara. Do you have the son's birth certificate,. If you can find this it will have her maiden name on it.,

If you order the certificate from the GRO then you will find Clara's maiden name ane can use FreeBMD to look for her marriage.

If you are certain Clara was married when John was born, then ignore these records.



In 1911 a John Hodges (1902) born Stourbridge, was living in Dudley. In the same house was a Clara Hodges (1882) born Stourbridge, and a Mary Hodges also born Stourbridge (1848).



(sorry, I can't tell you their relationships to each other, as it costs £1 to view the full transcript on the 1911 ...... maybe this is Clara and Mary below?)
