Thread: Elizabeth Connor b abt 1859

Hello All

I'm after some advice/help with the above person, i can find nothing on this person until 1881, apart from a possible birth match(Betsey Conner 1859 Uxbridge)?? What i do know is as follows.......in 1881 she appears on the census as Elizabeth Connor b abt 1859 in Northolt, Middlesex, she is living with an Edward Dell in Yeading, 2 children are listed Ada and Edward ages 2 and 1 respectively, however in 1891 she is listed as Betsey Conner b abt 1858 Northolt, still living with Edward Dell and now there are more children Ada, Edward, Arthur, Henry, Mary, George and Thomas, the Arthur listed is my great grandfather and i have a copy of his birth cert. the mother listed is Elizabeth Connor but the father is listed only as "a labourer in brickfields" which is where Edward Dell is listed as working, Edward was born abt 1854 in St Albans but again i can find no record of him before 1881, anyway onto 1901 and now she is Elizabeth Commer, there are 4 new children, William, Alfred, Eliza and Frederick, some are Conner some are Commer, also in 1901 i found an Arthur Conner as a lodger living with a James and Annie Conner in Northolt, i'm wondering if this is a uncle to Arthur? But i've yet to be able to connect James to Elizabeth, but most of the Connor/Conner names i do find in the area are labourers in brickfields so i'm thinking there has to be a connection? But so far the differing variations in the name is making it harder to trace these people, i've had quite a bit of success tracing the children though, i've managed to find about 5 of their marriages, where they are all using the name Connor.

Hello Kimmy, Thanks for your help, i've found a 1861 census entry which looks like it could tie in with the 1871 entry you found, but again the places of birth have changed and the ages are a little off for the parents

Hello, Thanks for the replies, and my apologies as the above year i quoted should have been 1861 not 1871, i also rechecked the 1901 census on James Connor/Conner and it gives his year of birth as abt 1856 which is a bit too early unless the John Connor aged 6 in 1861 is John James and has used his middle name in life as it seems most of my relatives liked to do, just to make research a little easier.......
