    Default 1861 census - Yorkshire

Now I'd like to find my couple before they got married:

Fanny Brooke, born Cleckheaton, Yorks. She'd be about 24 in 1861. Possibly with her family : father Edward, mother Mary, siblings Elizabeth Mary, Harriet Ann, Sarah, Edward, Jane and Thomas Kaye (she was the youngest of that lot)

Thomas Kirkham, born Staylebridge, Lancs. He'd be about 26, and was a curate in Brierley at the time. He might be married to somebody else, because he's listed as a widower in 1867.

Thanks for any help on either of these two.

First of all, thanks welshlady for all those!

I'm pretty confident about him being a curate in 1861 - that's from Crockford's Clerical Directory. On the other hand, that's also the only source I have for that info. So I'm not sure about that 1861 census entry.

I do like the 1841 census entry - that looks like a good match for siblings, parents, etc (if I'd known that people were going to be kind enough to look at other censuses, I would have mentioned parents, siblings, etc :-)).

That means that the 1851 one is a good match, too. Those names and ages for siblings match well.

You're right that that marriage and death seem like a good fit if that is him in 1861. Hmmm. I guess the things to do is to order the marriage certificate specifying his father's name...

    Thanks again.
