    Default Tomlin/Tomlyn

I am looking for information on John Tomlyn born 2 Nov 1772, he was born in England, may have been born in Milton, Neer Sittingborn, Kent, England, that is where I believe at least one of his children were born. He was married to Harriet Savin, born 1796, England, on 13 Oct. 1815. They had Rebecca, born 1816, Letitia, born 1824, William Savin, born 1828 and John, born 1831, in Milton, Neer Sittingborn, Kent, England. Thank you Lynda Fenner McKee

    Hi Lynda

Where did you get the information that his birth date is 2 Nov 1772

Milton lies on Milton Creek which runs up to Sittingbourne, so there is a possibility that he was a sailor of some sort, and therefore could have come from anywhere.

Harriet comes from Chartham, near Canterbury, and has trotted up the A2 to Sittingbourne to get married. Possibly she was in service.

According to the IGI John died in 1866 and Harriet died in 1880.

No sign of either of them in the FreeBMD.

Have you any idea where they died

You said "He was married to Harriet Savin, born 1796, England, on 13 Oct. 1815. They had Rebecca, born 1816, Letitia, born 1824, William Savin, born 1828 and John, born 1831, in Milton, Neer Sittingborn, Kent, England."

I seem unable to find any of them on the !841, 51, 61 or Harriet in the 71 Censuses.

    Best wishes

This is a nuisance as there is no way to cross check it, unless we read the Milton Parish Records.
