Thread: baptism records deptford 1856

Hi,



I am trying to find a baptism record for a Daniel Driscoll born in 1856 Deptford Kent. I have no further information on his birth and im trying to find his parents names. Any help would be appreicated.

Hi,



Daniel was born in Deptford in 1856 and i cannot find his parents or siblings names. i thought if i could find a baptism record for him i would at least have his parents names. HE married Jane Ann Delaney and we cannot find a marriage record for them. Their children they had were John 1881, James 1882, Elizabeth 1884, Daniel 1886 and Jane 1889/1890. I have tracked them on census 1881 sayes st deptford, 1891 sayes st deptford and 1901 faustin place southwark. They were all born in Deptford except for the mother who was born in Ireland.

the child Daniel born 1886 is the actual one im looking for as he come here to Australia at some time and cant find anything on him from the 1901 census until i have him on a electoral register here in australia in 1917. He married here in Australia in 1922 but for some reason i feel he may have been married before in England. There are so many Daniel Driscoll on the passenger lists and as we dont know when he come, we dont know which one is him. The only other info i have been able to find is elizabeth born 1884 married a john lett in 1904 at st olaves southwark. hope all that is not to confusing. would apprieciate any advice on where to go from here. thanks gibbos

Hi Gibbos, As Deptford is less than a mile from Greenwich, it's most likely the Daniel birth reg Welshlady posted is the correct one.

Hi or should i say good morning!! If you are in England it would only be around 5 am???

i have done some digging around today after the reply from welshlady and it looks like the one from greenwich could be him. if i order a birth cerificate that should have his parents names? many thanks

Yes, it was around 5am - I'm an insomniac



The birth cert would name both parents, and father's occupation.
