Thread: records before 1837

anyone know the best way to find info on records like births before 1837?



i went to the westminster archives today and looked at the orginal parish register for st james, picadilly, westminster and found one of my ancestors marriage info john prudden 1803 and it says that one of the witnesses was called phillis prudden, so it could be either his sister or his mother, but i have no idea which one or the birth/death of phillis etc.. also the other witness was charles biggs,

i really want to find out who phillis was and her birth info,

Unless they are on the IGI, then again it is down to parish records. The earlier that you go back, the less information will be given. You will need to find John's birth and the births of his siblings.

i only know johns year of birth, and thathe married lucy and had a few kids i dont know anything about his siblings or his parents he and lucy are the furthest i have gone back on the prudden side of the family and even other family members that i've found on the prudden side have the same problem
