Default James Edward Laker 1901 Croydon

James Edward Laker born 1901 2nd March 9 Purley Road, Croydon.. another son of my Grandfather William John Laker - proven by Birth certificate...

On the 1911 Census aged 10 - the word School was scribbled over......

Now am trying to find a marriage probably I hope in the Croydon/Caterham area... as the family were living at 80, Commonwealth Road Caterham at this time..

Have tried a search 1920 through to 1940 but no luck, maybe another pair of eyes might pick something up I have missed....

Would be grateful for any information anyone can find for me....

ps would James Edward be on the 1901 Census? I am unsure as to which date this was carried out...although saying this haven't been able to find any of the rest of the family on the 1901 Census..

Also have noticed that 7 children born alive, 6 living, 1 children have died, now did find a James Edward Laker who had died in Croydon abt 1902, but this cannot be my James Edward Laker as he was alive and well on the 1911 Census - strange.....Could this have been another son born in the same year who had died, I think I will have to apply for death certificate to ascertain this......

I have looked at the images for the whole of Purley Road, Croydon and there isn't a family called Laker living there. The family at number 9 are called Green.

    I'm a little here....

On the 1911 Census I have grandad William John Laker, his wife Elizabeth Ann, daughters Mary Ann, Elizabeth Fanny, Harriett Rose, Edith Annie and Beatrice Alice, sons William Edward and James Edward.

Under Children Born Alive we have 7, Children Still Living 6, Children who have died 1....

All of the children apart from James Edward (I have his birth certificate), lived to a ripe old age, proven by death certificates....I have yet to find a death certificate for James Edward after this 1911 Census. A deceased child wouldn't be included in the 1911 Census would he?

I am having a senior citizen moment, but need someone to clarify this for me.....

    Thank you for your time...

    Hi Dottie,

James should be on the 1901 census but may not have been named. Have you tried looking for Infant Laker.

Received the Death Certificate today for James Edward Laker dated 17th February 1902.....aged 11 months.....

Parents correct........William John Laker and Elizabeth Ann..

But why then is James listed on the 1911 Census as being 10 years old..

Could there have been another named James Edward Laker son in this family...

Would be grateful for any possible solutions..........

    thanks for your time....

and the answer was that his mother Elizabeth Ann was a trifle confused and entered James as living on the 1911 Census....well one mystery solved......
