Thread: Frederick Arthur Lewis

Would like a breakthrough on Frederick Arthur Lewis.

His son Walter Frederick Lewis was born 5th Dec. 1907: registered Jan. 2nd 1908 in Bridgend ,S.Wales: vol 11a 1015.

Walter married Sylvia Thomas on 16th Sept.1933 & its from his marriage cert. that I have his father's name.

Is it possible to trace his mother's name from this birth ref.?

I have a copy of his birth cert. but his mother's name is not stated - entry no. 47, register book 61, district Bridgend.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure I understand you. You have a copy of the birth certificate but it doesn't have the mother on it?

Or do you mean you have the reference for the birth cert but haven't got the actual certificate?

I'd been provided with a scaled down photocopy of the birth which appeared to be complete and contained the info as previously stated however following further research I believe that this is what is known as a "short" cert. which is an abstract of the original entry.

So I'm none the wiser & its not even my relative!

I have advised the person in question to send for the actual cert in order to get from square 1.

OK. Short cert just has birth date and place and person's name. The info about parents is on the long cert. Hope it gets sorted.
