Do you know his parents names?
The reason I ask is because I have found a Benjamin Portman living in Dudley in 1901 but the Census gives him as Benjamin W L Portman aged 7 which doesn't quite fit your Benjamin Frederick born 1889. The parents are Thomas a Butchers Cart Man and Johannah. Let me know if this is the right Benjamin and I'll post the rest of the details

HI Emeltree
No thats not the Benjamin i was looking for i already have the details for this one.
The one im looking for may be the son of either Frederick or Edward but im not finding him on any census untill 1911.

so it appears that he died and the one in 1911 census may be a different one from the one born dudley?
