Thread: William Baker

Hello everyone

I have just been searching using the street search on a certain site and found my Baker family. And was surprised by William's occupation, it's not what I had him down as I've checked the census page for 1861 but the writing is quite bad, I cant find him in 1851 a year before he married but have him 71,81,91,01 he died July 1901.

William Baker 1825 ? Winchester Hants married Margaret Ann Milton 8/11/1852 Folkestone Kent which is where they stayed.

On the 61 there are two children Martha and Sarah.

Would be grateful if someone could let me know what they think.

I have had a look at the 1861 census and think his occupation is

Engine CP Maker - I wonder if the CP could stand for clay pipe?

Got pipped at the post - I was about to say the same thing. One thing I'm sure of - it definitely does not say Surgeon which is how the genealogy site I use transcribed it!

Thanks for that I thought it was something like that on the site I use I can search by address and the transcriber has put his occupation as Surgeon which its obviously not.
