I'm looking for the birth of James Godfrey in about 1874. According to the 1891 and 1901 census he was born in Erith, Kent but a register search there has drawn a blank. I know from his marriage certificate that his father was William and he was described as a sailor. According to the same census William was born in 1847/8 in Yarmouth Norfolk. I can find two near matches. I'd also like to find Willaim's marriage. I think I've looked in the obvious places but as a newbie I'd be grateful for help.
