Default NA look up required for Daniel Cross' MIC

I need someone who is going to the National Archives to pull the MIC for my late Grand father who served in WW1 as:

    CROSS Daniel Joseph

    PTE 57508 RAMC

    In Egypt 12/8/1915

I have a copy of the front which I bought online, however I am told his unit is frequently written on the reverse of the MIC for Corpsmen.

I only need the information on the REVERSE of the Card (if any exists).

As I live in Eastern Europe, if anyone were going to NA and could pull this record for me it would be greatly appreciated.

    Phil

If the MIC is his medal index card, you can see them on a payperview basis on www.ancestry.co.uk

my experience of MICs is that they never have anything written on the back, but I guess you never know.

I spoke to the RAMC Museum and they said that sometimes the unit history of RAMC soldiers was written on the back of the MIC Medal Index Card.

The difference between Regiments and Corps is that a Regiment was sent as a unit where 'Corpsmen' as regiments called them were frequently posted as individuals to units as required. Thus you can't work out where they were posted by where their regiment went as they never had one.

Unless they were enlisted to something like a regional Field ambulance which moved as a unit, they vanish.

Therefore since I have already bought the MIC image that only shows the front, the only way I can check to see if my grandfather's is one of the lucky cards is to actually get someone to physically check the back.

I know my Grandfather served in Egypt (WW1 &WW2) but I don't know which unit. I have a history of the medical units in Egypt in WW1 so it would be nice to tie him to a particular unit.

The only other way to find out is wait six month or so and order one or two searches of the MOD records (WW1 & WW2)
