I am trying to find James Pycroft b1823 (may have be born in Nottingham waiting for details to confirm this.) in any of the Census records for 1841/51/61.



in 1855 he lived in Stockport, in 1856 he was in Bury, in 1860 he wa in Ashton under Lyne by 1866 he was back in Stockport and he died in 1870 in Ramsbottom.



I have not been able to find James in any of the Census he was an Auctioneer I don't what that involved but possibley he travelled with his job.



I have found that Pycroft can be miss spelt I could be Rycraft, Pyecroft or Pycraft.

James married Alice Johnson in 1855 in Stockport.

Children,

John Thomas b1856 in Bury Lancs

James b1860 in Ashton under Lyne

Sarah b1866 in Stockport.

Thank you for your help, the 1841 census you found could well be the correct family. I am waiting for a reply from Nottingham records that a James Pycroft did live in the Nottinghamshire area. I have also been trying to find James in other census records again just to confirm this is the correct family.
