    Default Canada Census 1860?

I don't know if there even is one available, but if anyone has access to the Canadian census around the year 1860, or any after 1851/1852, could you please look up Samuel McLaughlin for me? He was born in June 1851 according to the 1900 NY census, year 1852 according to 1880 census, so I'm not quite sure. But he was born at sea coming from Ireland. So, what I'm actually looking for are his parents names and any info on them. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea where they were in Ireland or Canada. I have also considered looking at passenger lists, but I have no access to them and I wouldn't know how to search, since he was born on the ship...any suggestions?

He immigrated to the US in 1875 so it would have to be before then. Thanks for any help.

    Hi mmmcla01,

I don't know if there is an 1860 census on line. There is a Samuel McClocklin in 1870 in Ontario but he was born in England.

I doubt that was him, but do you know what year he was born? Maybe the records were wrong or something.... Were there other members in the household? I think he married around that year but I'm not positive.

    Hi mmmcla01,

Now that you have found them in the USA, are you still looking for them in Scotland ?

Not Scotland, they came from Ireland, but I'm actually looking for them in Canada, because Samuel was born on a ship from Ireland to Canada. So what I'm looking for are his parents' names; at least his mother would have been in Canada, if not both.
