Thread: Help please to find Smith and Decent

Hi everyone,

I am trying to find out about parents of Ida Smith of Outwood, Wakefield, date before 1914 and parents of May Faith Decent of Wakefield and Dudley, before 1910 - I think?

Do you have any other details about Ida? For example: middle name, month born? There's a few Ida Smiths' in the birth index 1914 and earlier.

I've checked the 1911 census index, only 2 Decents' show up living in Wakefield.



1. Marie Victoria Decent born c. 1902



2. Mary Jane Decent born c. 1885



I cannot find a birth entry for Marie Victoria, here's Mary Jane's

Yes, it must be Welshlady. Problem is, the only other Decent in Wakefield on the 1911 was born 1902.............surely too young to have given birth.



If this were my ancestry I'd send for May F Decent's birth cert.

Ida has only one name, she was born January 1914 and married Sam Ellis, don't know what year. I am trying to find out about her parents for my husband, they died when Ida was very young. She was born in the Outwood Wakefield area and lived there until her marriage.
