Thread: Frances or fanny harrison nee burgin confusion. please help me

I was hoping someone could possibly help me or give me some advise.



I am trying to desperately figure out this ladies maiden name. born abt 1810.



1841 census says fanny harrison, with 3 children, henry aged 7, ann aged 3, and stephen aged 1.



1851 census she is still harrison aged 41, but living with a william burgin aged 51, which i believe she marries at some point, children are henry, sarah, stephen, william, and fanny. This census states she is a lodger?!



I am a decendent of stephen, and really would like to find out his mothers maiden name, and his father name.



I can't seem to find any births or marriages listed, perhaps I am looking in the wrong places or barking up the wrong tree?



Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Did you know William is on the 1841 census with her, by 1861 she is Frances Burgin still can't find a marriage. But there is an entry for a Frances Harrison (c) 7th July 1811 Rickmansworth Herts which is where the census says she was born, I think they never married.

she is fanny harrison on that one, name changes to frances later?



So are you thinking harrison is her maiden name? and she had children unmarried back in 1840 ish?

also, I haven't got a birth certificate as yet...........was trying to go as far as possible without the need.



I have found a lady in australia looking for the same frances or fanny, but she a decendent of henry i think............its all just so amazing!



you will have to excuse my excitement, I am quite new to ancestry and am finding it all the most rewarding thing I have done for myself ever!

Sorry should have put the reference number for 1841, off to work now so not got time I'll find it later. Yes I do think she had children without being married, so her maiden name was Harrison, Welshlady is right it would pay to buy at least one birth cert just to make sure.
