Is there any way to find out which parishes are not covered by the IGI in a particular county?
Second question- If a record was microfilmed is it in the IGI?
Thanks

will tell you what IS covered, so from that you can see what ISN'T. Choose a county and you will find an alphabetical list of parishes and batch numbers which you can search on, with the dates included.

not sure what you mean? Extracted parish registers were filmed, but the IGI also includes submitted entries which may be from personal research and taken from registers or just guesswork.
You need to bear in mind that the IGI was started originally to enable Mormons to include their ancestors in their faith, not for family history purposes.
Hi jcoltee,
Parish records may have been filmed but do not neccessarily appear on the IGI. It depends if access to the records was given to the LDS.
My second question was if the births or marriages were filmed in a parish do all of register entries show in the IGI and also are there any parish records which have not been filmed?
Thanks
Ed
As you will see if you look at the website whose address I posted you will see there are lots of parishes that weren't filmed. Some county coverage is much better than others. Also many parishes only have coverage for a short number of years.
Are you looking for something in particular?
Thanks Helen.
If I understand you correctly is that if a parishes records were filmed then it is on the IGI?What I am trying to figure out is that if what I am looking for is not on the IGI then what surrounding parishes were not filmed and how to access their records.
I felt confidant that James Chappell and Mary Spencer married at St Mary Warwick since Mary was baptised there and her first two children were baptised there. This was not the case. Now I have to figure out were else to look - of course this assumes that they married.

Hi Ed,
Parishes that were not filmed can be accessed by viewing the parish records. Also not all churches performed marriages. Some of the churches just did baptisms and burials.
It is the viewing of the records that is the problem.Kind of hard to do from Canada.
Thanks Starlight
Hi Jcoltee,
I buy mine on microfiche from the records office. I am not sure if All counties offer this service but it might be worth enquiring. All you need then, is to find somewhere that you can access a microfiche reader if you haven't got one.

You need to look at a map - I imagine Warwick would have quite a few parishes. Then you might find you can order film of the parishes at your nearest LDS centre for a small fee.
Or save up for a trip to Warwickshire Records Office* or pay someone else to research for you. Do you have a rough idea of the date of the marriage - if Mary was living in St Mary Warwick parish at the time of the marriage the banns book might help as it would give her groom's parish too, where the marriage would take place.
*sorry, just seen you are in Canada. I was fooled by the UK flag flying!
