Thread: Morrisroe or Morris? Marriage Reg. please

Hi,

I'm trying to find a marriage for James Douglas Morrisroe. He married Miriam Webster in about 1920 in Barnsley, Yorks.

I know the family name was changed fom Morrisroe to Morris sometime in the early 20th century but am not sure when.

I have been unable to find a marriage under either name.

I would also like to find the births of their two children ; John Douglas and Alan, born in about 1921 and 1924.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can help.

Is there an name or initial for his wife? Can you tell me whether the registrar wrote down name as he heard them, in which case it's certainly a possibility.

Sorry if I mislead you, the record I posted wasn't a marriage record, it's a birth reg and I thought a possible for the couples son as the mother's maiden name is Webster. I have amended my first post to reflect this.

You didn't mislead me. It was just me not reading it correctly.

However, it's great. I'm almost certain it's their son, John Douglas. He was born on 21 Sept. 1921 in Rotherham, so it all fits. Now I can send for the Cert.
