Hi all im hoping somebody can give me a bit of advice on where to go next. I've been researching my grandmother's side of the tree and have come to a dead end and don't know where to look next.

Im stuck with my 4xgt grandparents.

Using the census info i have my 4x gt grandmother Hannah Mayor (married name) living with her family in Essex as a Mariners wife.

Im struggling to find the name of my 4 x gt grandfather as he never appears in the census.

Hannah was born around 1802 in Cambridgeshire, Great Shelford all her children were born Harwick, Essex. Also struggling to find birth records for them.



William abt 1831

Mary abt 1834

Samuel abt 1836

Frances abt 1838

Sarah abt 1845

Hannah abt 1848



Is there a site which i could search for records of Mariners?



Any advice would be appreciated.

A birth for Samuel, if you send for the cert it should name his father.

Thats my Samuel i didn't find that entry.



Thats a more likely one, he was a lighthouse keeper for a while but in 1881 and 1901 he was a sailmaker and the date of birth ties in alot better than the other.

Yes def my Samuel, i can't find him in 1841 though. I have an old note book of my grandmothers which says he died in 1911 which ive found a record for and it ties in with his year of birth as 1836.
