I am trying to find out about my grandfather George William Stanley Snell born 02/01/1920 in Hendon.

My sister has found an entry in the BMD Index giving his mothers maiden name as Wake which is odd as the information we previously had was that his mother's name was Mary Ann Sophia Kraemer.

I have found info on Mary via the 1881 census and 1891 census where she is 3 months and ten yrs old respectively.

His father was James Snell born c1872, possibly in London.

So if anyone can help with info on when where they married Mary and James married and as to who the person name Wake may be?

Yes, it would seem Mary Ann and James were married in 1898.



Marriages are indexed by quarter, so Mary and James weren't necessarily married in Sept, but sometime between Jul - Sept, to find the exact date you would have to buy a copy of the cert, the cost is £7.



Charles Rogers must have married Annie Warwick, marriages are indexed 2, 4, 6, or 8 (usually) to the page. As you already knew who James' bride was, you can, I think safely assume this is the correct marriage. Where did you get the info that Mary Ann S Kraemer was his wife?
