Maggoirin Conte born about 1877 on daughters birth cert as waiter in Worthing about 1903 wife or partner ? Elizabeth Ives had 4 children whom we can trace but not Mr Conte any help please
who were the children?
Hello and thanks for reply,
Daughter Kathleen Conte born 1905 East Preston Sussex, Maggie Conte born 1903 London. My mother was Kathleen Conte who married George Robert Nichols. We have done all the family tree and the only person we cannot trace is Mr Maggoirin CONTE. He is named on both birth certificates and the mother being Elizabeth IVES. We have gone back to 1680 on the tree but can find nothing on all searches on this as we now call him Mr (B) Maggoirin Conte. We know he was a waiter, not domestic, and at some time he worked for someone called Joesbury we believe is some hotel or something in Piccadilly London. My mother also believed she was born 18th December when in fact having traced the original birth certificate it was 17th..kind regards Barrie Nichols at nicholsb02@msn.com
Hi Sally
Have been unable to find any reference to someone of that name.
No Conte/Conti to Ives marriage in BMD from 1880 onwards.
Mag* has not produced anything either.
In Jun Qtr 1898 there is a person missing.
The only Italian sounding person is Johannes Conradi in Wandsworth in Dec Qtr 1903 and there is also a person missing on this entry.
?? have you looked for this man to prove him either way?

think the 1911 should be Marguarite & Kathleen with mother, think Mr Conte had gone by then.

other than this. think he vanished into thin air...... lol
Could be that the idea of marriage never occurred to them, and she just took the name.
Exotic, swarthy, bottom-pinching Italian [on a moped].... who could resist![]()
