Thread: Could Beatrice Hughes be buried in Sheffield

Hi,

Can anyone help I am still trying to find a burial for my Great Aunt Beatrice Hughes who died January 1947 age 59. She died in Storthes Hall Asylum Huddersfield can't find any burials there so I wondered if she was brought back to Sheffield. Although her parents were both dead when she died, she did have a brother who I think lived Attercliffe area and the informant on her death certificate lived Richmond Road Sheffield..

You say 'can't find any burials there', do you mean in Storthes Hall or, the Huddersfield area? Do you know for certain she was buried, or could she have been cremated? Have you tried Wakefield?

Thanks for your reply. As far as I know Burials were not done at Storthes Hall, but I have tried churches and graveyards in the area with no luck. Wakefield Archives have no record of a burial for her although do have her on there patient index. She was at Wadsley Asylum before being sent to Storthes Hall, I have actually seen her records from Wadsley and I have her death certificate. I don't know why but I never gave a thought that maybe she could have been cremated so I have just emailed Huddersfield cremitoriam.(thanks for that suggestion) but I just wonder if maybe she could have been brought home.
