I have a James John May who died on 6 May 1950 in Sunderland aged 73. This would make his birth year 1877. Now I get a James May aged 14 years in the 1891 census with parents Robert May and Mary Spoors but I don't find him in 1901 although I find the family, is on a ship? Is this the correct family? I can't find a marriage or wife for him either. He had a son James May born September 1902. Can anybody help with information?

this would appear to be his birth reg

if you get the certificate (£7) you can be sure of his parents names and not follow wrong family.
