Today received a Birth Certificate dated 1899 which also included the birth time (9.10 am)! How ususual is this, I've not come across it before, has anyone else?

Hi,
I have several English certs with the time on them. Scottish birth certs all have time noted on them..so Raven says
Registrars usually added the time for multiple births, however most of mine are single births..![]()
Thanks for your reply.
He was a twin, so that's no doubt why there's a time.
I have about 30 Birth Certificates and this is the first one with a time, I thought maybe the Registry was being over conscientious!
The reason twin births always give a time is so you know which one is oldest - I think its to do with inheritance.
I have two certificates with a time and date of birth.
One was a 'twin', the reason obviously as stated above.
The other stated 'midnight', I guess to specify it was that day rather than a minute later being the next?

Hi Teresa
It's quite common in Scottish records from 1855 onwards
