John and Mary Miller please - dates - parents etc



In the 1851 Census they are recorded Thus



John Miller age 50 Hand Loom Silk Weaver

Mary age 47



Children



Janet 20 "Fringer"

John 18 Hand Loom Silk Weaver

James 16 Butchers .....

Mary 14 House servant

Jonathan 9

Alexander 6

William 4



Living at Pattersons Yard, Magdalen Street Norwich

Do you know when John married Mary? If you dont, then it may be a good idea to send off for the birth cert of one of the children to get her maiden name.

Have now looked at the Norfolk Marriages 1801-1837 CD and the possible details are



MILLER John 16 2 30 JOLLY Mary married at Barnham Broom



First child listed in 1851 census would have been born in 1831 - but its a hunch - can anyone confirm it please ?

Does 1851 census give birth places for all these people? I can't find them on 1851!

Have just checked the 1851 Census and all of them by the youngest (William aged 4 - b abt 1847 ? Norwich-nfk) are shown birthplace as Sct - presumably Scotland !!



Presumably I do not stand much chance of getting any further !! or can someone point me in the right direction ?

Have found the family now - I think. Mistranscribed on Ancestry as Meller.



Only the last child was born in Norwich. Birthplace for all the others is Scotland, so that makes a big difference! Chances are the marriage would have been in Scotland too.

I can only suggest you try finding these people in later censuses and hope that they give their birthplace there - or find them 1841 in Scotland, to give you a starting point.
