    Default Lookup Please

    Hi All

Im hoping somebody might be able to help. I can't seem to find one of my ancestors on the census's.

Hannah Portman born 1827 Thorpe Hesley married James Waller born 1820 either Thorpe Hesley or Wentworth.

They married in 1844 and had at least one son Charles Waller born 1852 Thorpe Hesley/Wentworth.

I think James died in 1856 and Hannah died in 1866.

Anything you could find for me would be a great help.

sorry I do not have access to much of the 1851 census. I did look at the 1861 though like you said - nothing. Do you think they were somewhere other than Yorks? could she have re-married? I also looked for the son Charles and couldn't find him either which lead me to think it may have been wrongly transcribed. in which case unfortunately you may never find them. I have some ancestors that I cannot find on the 1891 and 1901 census, I know they were alive but I just cannot find them. These enumeraters unfortunately did not always have neat handwriting! but then again the transcribers sometimes get it wrong!
