I have been doing my family tree for a while now,and on my fathers side have done really good,but my mothers side nowhere at all,keep hitting the same brickwall cannot find anything on my mothers dad,the furthers i have got is the address were my mother was born,i know my grandfather was a coachman and died at a young age it has to be after 1918 as thats when my mother was born she married at 26 and my grandfather was dead,his name is william john eacott born about, 1870 not sure were he was born his wife ( think wife ) as can not find anything on that either was charlotte groves she had already been married b4 to a herbert judge my mother name was edith charlotte eacott born 1918in mile end old town can any1 help me get though this brickwall thanks

Do you have you mother's birth cert? What was her father's occupation at that time.

Did she have any siblings?

You say that her mother had been married before to Herbert Judge.....Do you have the cert for this marriage...it may hold more clues to help tracing her.

Also, do you know if William Eacott had been married previously?

I cannot find the registration for a marriage between William Eacott & Charlotte Grove/Judge...but I have not trawled the full index, yet.



There are a few possibilities, but with such little info, I am only guessing.



My guess would be.......

William John Eacott b Jun qtr 1875, Bethnal Green 1c / 308



1901 Census has him living at 8 Hare St, Bethnal Green, with wife Ellen and daughter Elizabeth, aged 1.

RG13; Piece: 289; Folio: 123; Page: 41.



This appears to be the birth for Charlotte Elizabeth Groves.....

Sep Qtr 1879, Poplar 1c/677



1901 Census sees her at home with her parents......

RG13; Piece: 348; Folio: 144; Page: 37

36 Ellenmere St, Bromley, Poplar.

Parents are Abraham & Elizabeth.
