    Default Need some advice

I am trying to trace back a Harry (Henry) Pickering who married Sarah Blyth 20 Sep 1823 in Beeford E. Yorkshire. No Henry shows up in IGI but a Harry Puckerin does (b 05 Dec 1792 Swine, father Michael Puckerin). No Michael Puckerin marriages are listed but there are a couple Michael Pickering marriages close by.

My problem is how do I connect Puckerin and Pickering.

    Hi JC

Phonetically it is probably close enough to accept, if you can pinpoint them to the parish or adjacent ones

As you know our information is dependant on those who transcribed it.

It starts with the vicar's scrawl and ends with whoever punched it into the database. This is unlikely to be a single move!!

    Good luck with it

    Hi

I'm searching for them but can't find them on the censuses for 41 and 51.

    Any idea where they are?

    Hi jcoltee,

You say that no Henry shows up on the IGI. Is this the only place you are looking ? Not all parishes are shown on the IGI, only those that allowed the LDS to view their recods. If you have not already done so you would need to consult the parish registers to confirm that there are no Puckerin and Pickerings around the same area.

Thanks MarkF,Chris and Starlight.I found Sara Blyth at Skipsea which is about 2 miles east of Beeford but the hangup is Henry(Harry) based on who his parents are supposed to be-Michael and Martha. There are lots of Michaels but no Michael and Martha. There is a Harry Puckering baptized in Swine 1792 whose father is Michael.Swine is about 8 miles south of Beeford.

I guess the only thing is to check parish registers and hope he did not have wandering feet.

Mark-the family came to Canada in 1828.

    Thanks again

    Ed
