I was wondering if anyone on here could help me.



Are Divorce records are available on the internet?



I wanted to look up when a relative was divorced and if I could find any information about the person they divorced.



If anyone could answer my question, I would greatly appreciate it.

Divorce records are not available on the internet.

Divorce was very very rare before 1858 and after that it was made easier - but only for very rich people.



TNA has details of early divorces, but most divorce papers are now routinely destroyed. You can find out about more recent divorces via courts (and of course they may be reported in local papers)

1858-1927: almost all survive

1928-1937: 80% survive (files from the district registries have been destroyed)
