Thread: Trade or Professional Directories

I am looking for a man named Evans (dk period or christian name) maybe mid to late 19th century.

He is purported to have had a shop in Baker Street london, he was a carriage lamp dealer, I think.

He is also purported to have been mayor (chairperson) of Westminster 3 times.



I wondered if someone had a trade directory for the area or knows something of Westminster history that they could look him up. It is so annoying that there is nothing more known

I have tried various search engines and end up with too much info that I don't want and none that I do!

I found his shop in the online historic Directories, I'd forgotten about the site.

1786 is a little early for him, the info passed to me re Westminster was that they used to elect a Chairman before the title of Mayor was used.



I am going to have to search the National Archive site eventually. I seem to get lost whenever I try
