Young / Platt Stoke on Trent, help please

Hi

I have been struggling for a while on my Mother In-Law's paternal line

I have a copy of her parents Marriage Cert which states that her Grandfather Thomas Henry Young was deceased at the time (1930)

However her father's birth cert 1908 states that his parents were George Henry Young and Frances Harriet Young (formerly Platt)

I cannot find any evidence of her grandparents marriage

Interestingly also her father was registered as Daniel Thomas but married as Thomas Daniel. He had an older sister Florence May, born 1906 and siblings Alfred, George and Rose (dates unknown, but suspect younger than him)

Any info you can find would be greatfully received, if nothing comes up can you suggest any possible reasons, could they have not married, yet state that they were on a birth cert for example?

you will benefit greatly fron the 1911 census when it is released next year as they would all appear on it together.

yes they could have registered the birth saying they were married even if they werent.

this c0uld be frances in 1901 but no certainties as she is not using her middle name

um.. unsure about that 1901 census - there is another frances in 1891 with different parents in shropshire. there is a frances h platt with mother harriett but they are born in and in london in 1881. really need the marriage for further information.

what was your wifes grandfathers occupation on marriage certificate and on birth certificate of her father. are they the same?

Sorry for the delay in answering your question, On the birth certificate he is quoted as Miner, and the Marriage Certificate as Deceased

Hi, Many thanks for this information, i will add it to my tree. Daniel Thomas was born in 1908 so unless he and George were twins, I think George 1900 would be a better bet. I will search 1901 Census for George and see where it gets me.
