Phillimore's, Parish records, Bishops transcripts.
Thanks Starlight.
Phillimores may be a go but parish records are a long shot since we do not have a clue where they were married- best guess is London. How many Bishops transcripts would there be?
Bishop's Transcripts (BTs) are extra copies of the parish registers, so parish registers are the first port of call.
As I think I said earlier, if you have an idea of where in London it would help. If in the City of London, you need the Guildhall Library for parish registers.
If in the larger area you need the London Metropolitan Archives and/or more local records offices like Westminster Archives.
The London Metropolitan Archives are currently digitising all their parish registers so eventually they will be available online.
You may also find local family history societies have done their own indexes or offer searches for a small fee.
Thanks Helen.I guess that it will be a slow process.
Sometimes its the tricky ones that take ages that are the most rewarding when you find them.
I am still looking for my gt x 3 grandmother Kezia and am not sure about her surname as there seem to be umpteen families with similar names. Not found a baptism yet, nor even a marriage which might have had valuable witness names. I DO know she married as I've seen the banns register, but sadly the marriage register is virtually illegible.
When you find everything very easily, there's no real satisfaction though!
That is like my gt x 3 grandfather.Found his marriage but not baptism nor parents. Many have looked before me.
