The above is my great x3 grandfather on the 1881 census he is shown residing at 2 house 2 court Bolton Street Liverpoolaged 72yrs, his marriage cert dated 1840 at liverpool his age is given as full, occupation Woodturner residence being 23 RUPERT STreet,Liverpool, his fathers details being WILLAM alsoand his occupation as waiter,on igi there are 2 william whitby christenings 25 sept 1814 St Nicholas liverpool parents being William and Ann Whitby the second on



23 Apr 1816 St Peter liverpool parents William & Charlotte

The original parish registers might give father's occupation. But your man's age in 1881 gives birthyear of abt 1809. He may have been baptised later, or just be baptised somewhere not on the IGI.



What was his wife's name?

There are several William Whitbys born Liverpool on the various censuses, but I can't find any that fit either of the baptisms you've got.

When and where did he die?

Can't seem to find a suitable death after 1881, so 72 may be an error.

Hi Mark,thank u for this information,ON 1841 Census they are living in BOLTON STREET LIverpool William aged 20 occupation woodturnerwife Caroline aged 25yrs state born in this county,1851 census their name is misspelt they are shown as URTBEY personal work age details though are same and living in Liverpool in MOFFIT PLACE in 1861 they are again mistranscribed as WHITLEY and wife now states born in PORTUGAL? very strange
