Thread: Parish records and IGI

Does anyone know of any London parishes not on IGI?

I am pretty sure that the people I am searching for were married and their children were born in London but only one child is in the IGI and the marriage is not.The time frame I am interested in is 1800-1820.

Any help appreciated.

London had hundreds of parishes and its true that they aren;t all on the IGI.

If its the City of London, the records are on microfilm at the Guildhall Library; for the rest of London there's the London Metropolitan Archives, and many London boroughs have their own local history centres and archives as well.

The only info I have is that the daughter was baptized at St Lukes Chelsea in 1822 and the family lived in St George Hanover at the time of the 1841 census.Not much to go on I am afraid.

Well its better than just "London, Middlesex" which is all I've got for several rellies!



Records of St Geo Hanover Sq are at the Westminster Archives. St Luke Chelsea records are at the London Metropolitan Archives.



Some Chelsea records, including an 1886 plan of St Luke's burial ground, are at the Kensington Local Studies Library.

You might find them on Pallot's baptism and marriage registers. If you have the names I can look them up.

Ann ?? abt 1781

Harriett abt 1819

James abt 1820

Matilda baptized 24 Nov 1822 St Luke's Chelsea

In 1841 the family was living in St George Hanover.

There is always the possibility they moved to London from wherever and if they were married in their early 20's then there could be additional children but that is another hunt-first things first.

There's Boyd's index, but that's on the British Origins site and I don't have a sub for that. I think its for marriages, but if you got Ann's maiden name that would help a bit more.

I too have had no success finding them on the 1841, but this would appear to be Ann in 1851 living with her dau Harriet now married with a son William.
