Thread: SCURR Kathleen Louise who is she?

My mother in law was born to Kathleen Louise Wood formerly Scurr but she was not married to Henry Wood the father.

Kathleen was already married to someone else but who?

1901 Census shows her,Henry baby Harry (Harold) in Lambeth but I cant find her family

Can anyone help?

Not sure I understand. Kathleen pretended to be Mrs Wood but you know she was already married? So you are looking for a Mr Scurr who married someone called Kathleen Louise?

I can't see a marriage and I can't find Kathleen or Henry in 1901. Do you have the reference?

She was then living with a Henry Wood but she wasn't married to him. Bernice' mother-in-law was a child of ????? not Henry Wood



I Think Bernice is after the name of the man she was married to. Maybe Bernice can confirm this.

Kathleen Louise Scurr left her husband but we do not know his name.

On the childrens birth certs she put her name as Kathleen Louise Wood formerly Scurr.To all intents and purposes the children were legitimate.

Mother was Kathleen May Wood 1903

1901ensus family living in Lambeth in Belvedere Road nr Waterloo Stn RG13/404

Still not clear. You mean she was born as Kathleen Louise Scurr, married an unknown person and then moved in with Mr Wood?



Is this the family 1901, Kathleen being called Kate?

The only Scurr birth I can find 1873 +/- a year is for a male.

Assuming that Scurr was her first husband's name (can't find the marriage) there are no Kathleen Louise surname unknown births either.



I guess either her birth wasn't registered or she was given different names at birth. She may have changed her name when she left her first husband. This would explain why we can't find her earlier.

Yes this is all we know.I have tried to piece things together but keep coming up against a brick wall.

I found the deaths by shear luck when I managed a trip to London Metropolitan Achives as there are hand written records of Greenwich Hospital.

I think I will have to go back to Lambeth and try and find more evidence of them arriving there in or around early 1900.Maybe election rolls or any evidence of work.

Anyway whoever you are thank you for your help and I hope to find something soon

Hi, this is a long shot.............but a Caroline Louise Scurr maried in Holborn in 1891, to either Henry John Lygoe, or Alexander Smith.



Also a Catherine Scurr married in Auckland Durham 1893.

Well I did check out Caroline in Holborn but thought it was too different but could not find her with Alex Smith 1901 either.

The Aukland one I have not checked out so I will do that.



I think I have to start tracing back from 1901 to see where they lived as I understand they lived together from around 1896.

If anyone can advise how I might do this I would be grateful!!!
