Thread: Adoption 1935-49 England

Hi can anyone tell me how to look up Adoption Records for 1935-49. There was talk that my Mum had another child before she married in 1949, making her 29 when she married. Do not know how to start to look.Liz Hutchison

Try getting in touch with your local Social Service's Office. They will be able to point you in the right direction. Check out this website too, they offer a good service, friendly and helpful (I have used them with success)

If you don't mind posting your mothers name and where she lived at the time you think she had another child. We could search for any births with your mothers maiden name to narrow your search down a little ?

Hi thanks for all your replies, If it is not against Ancestryaid I will give you what I have. But bear in mind since I have started my F/T I have found out a lot of untruths, but this information came from a Family member and it all seems to fit.

So my Mum's Name was at Birth Joan Doreen Warwick born at Watford 05091920 to Herbert and Doris{nee Poole} Warwick in the 1940"s Mum changed her Surname to Lowe by Depol, so the child could have been born under the Mothers name of Warwick, Lowe or Poole, which she sometimes used Poole.

She lived in Watford, Ciresceter and Rochford in Essex. Thats about all I know, not much help but since doing this Tree everything I thought I knew was wrong so only going on what I have on Documents. Thank You all once again be lovely to see if I have a Brother or a Sister. Liz Hutchison AustraliaD
