Ellen was my great great grandmother. All I really know about her is she married Daniel Brown in 1903 in Watford and that when I was born in 1972 she was still alive, making 5 generations of our family. I have a photo of us all that was in the local paper and would love to find out more about her! But i really am not too sure where to start.
Thanks for that information. Any suggestions as to what to do now?
i would start by getting her marriage certificate to Daniel Brown

this will give her fathers name and occupation as well as her address at time of marriage. that should help to find her on 1901 census and then should be able to work back. otherwise it is a bit of guesswork and it is better to start off on the right track.

Thanks for that, will order a copy and hopefully be able to continue the search!
