    Default French translation needed!

Hi, I need a short note translated from French into English, I can get the gist of it, but would like to know if I've missed anything.

It is a card written to my mum, by a French soldier, after he was evacuated from Dunkirk & billeted in a village hall in Broadwey, just outside of Weymouth. My Gran used to translate the soldiers requests to the villagers & my mum used to go with her.

If anyone can help I'd really be grateful.

    Hi Catwoman,

    Translation is as follows:

"Before leaving Weymouth, I write a few words by way of souvenir for the 'little' Audrey, a very lovable and well brought up little girl. I leave her my best wishes for her future life. I thank especially her parents and the neighbours who have welcomed us so warmly at Weymouth, and who have welcomed us with open hearts.

    Weymouth 2nd June 1940

    Soldier Jacob Edmond

    158 R Inf

    France"

    Blimey Martin that was quick!

Thanks so much, I can let my mum know what it says. Her french is a little rusty & I think she was also having trouble actually seeing the writing clearly...

It's a lovely little souvenir isn't it... I'd love to try & trace him to see if he made it through the war & back to his family. (Thats another project for the near future).

    Many many thanks.
