Thread: Henry Mercer Pickering 1791

I am trying to find the family of Henry Mercer Pickering abt 1791.He married Sarah Blyth in Beeford Yrk. 20 Sep 1823 and I think his parents may be Michael and Martha.

Two children (William and John) were born in Beeford and one(Henry) was born in Pocklington.

The family of Henry have been hidden for a long time.Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Yes I have seen the IGI entry but it is very suspect.Henry died and is buried in Canada not in the USA.The birth date was taken off the grave marker with nothing to confirm accuracy of the date.

Numerous people have tried to find his family with no luck.One problem seems to be the names of his parents.Michael and Martha were given as his parents names at the time of his second marriage in 1870 however there is no sign of them.The name Mercer may refer to his mothers maiden name but the closest is Marcer that I can find but no Martha.

I guess the only thing to do is to keep looking and hope for a break.

have not worked on this line in 3 or 4 years. Henry Mercer Pickering and Wife Sarah Sophia Bluth are my ggg grandparents. Their daughter Mary S. was married to Angus McDonell, they are my gg grandparents. mARY DIED IN 1859 AND IS BURIED IN Craford Cemetery near Blenheim,Ontario Canada, they had 3 children, John, Joseph Albert and Alexander. Joseph Albert of just Albert is my g grandfather. I posted Mary S. to findagrave, in Craford Cemetery, her tombstone is there also. Does anyone ave any further info on Henry and Sarah, since the last post. I believe Henry and Sarah and family were protestant, Angus McDonell was Catholic and I believe buried at St. Raphael's RCF Cemetery, in Lancaster, Canada. Does anyone know if Henry and Sarah and possibly his second wife Ellen Pinder are bureid in Craford???? findagrave for Craford only has less than 20 individuals there, I also believe there are other Pickering family buried in a cemetery called Evergreen, maybe near Blenheim, anyone know for sure.

Henry Mercer is my 2x gt grandfather. When Henry married Ellen Pinder he gave his parents names as Michael and Martha however I believe Martha is incorrect. I believe Henry is the son of Michael Pickering and Nancy Mercer and was born 23 Sep 1791 Swine Yorkshire. Michael born/baptised 25 Jun 1764 Wawne Yrk and died/buried 8 Mar 1818 Leven Yrk. Nancy born/baptised 23 Jun 1766 Leven and died/buried 5 Apr 1852 Kingston upon Hull Yrk.
Sarah was the daughter of Stephan Blyth(e) and Ann Young. She was born 17 Nov 1810 Skipsea Yrk.
Henry,Sarah and daughter Mary S are buried together in Craford. There are Pickering's buried in many cemetaries in Kent Co - very large family
