Thread: Census look up please

1901 & 1891



Could someone investigate 1901 for this child & family,

I'd be glad of all the offspring in total. There should be 11 but of course some may be born post 1901



Emily Groves aged 4 London Southwark Christ Church



Also the 1891 In case siblings have left home by 1901.

I really thought the christchurch southwark reference would locate her as she was the only one I found for that,,,,,I do have one sibling name Frances, which is why I want both census details...I expect her to be on the 1891 but may be left home by 1901?

Can someone tell me how the 1901 census works then?



I have looked up all the Emilys born a couple of years either side of the birth date I was given....I expect them to be in Soutwark.



The only Emily Groves I can see in Southwark is for "Christchurch"





So does that break down again into Islington and Shoreditch



Is there a site which shows how these areas are divided for each census?

Welshlady I think the Maggie Emily is right!



I have been told for 30 years that she was called Emily...but her son said to me a week ago Emily Margaret or Margaret Emily...I then said dont you know? and he said he thought his sister had surprised him when she went to register the death, by saying ahe was called Margaret. I emailed the sister last week and she said definately Emily. I quizzed them again....Emily Margaret or Margaret Emily and now she has replied since I posted saying she was sure her Mums name was Emily but actually now I mention it it could have been Margaret or even Maggie Emily! Nobody had mentioned Maggie before, but if theres a Maggie and Frances in the same family it looks like a goer. She also added she thought one of the other siblings names was Bert or Albert...but and this is a bit worrying she took in foster children too so there could be dozens of names. One other juicy bit is that she ran a sweet shop so there may be an occupation to tie in.....



I'm hoping!

Hi Welshlady....could you please confirm Maggie Emily is on the 1901.



Could anybody do the 1891 for this Family and see if a shop and or an Al Bert is mentioned.
