    Default Mountstephen/Walls

    Hi Listers,

Just think while most you are all asleep, I'm hard at work.

Those of you that have helped me in the past would know that I have an interest in a Mark Tattersall b1807 Goldshaw Booth Lancashire.

He married Mary Riley who passed away here in Australia. Mark then married a Cornish lass.

Her name was Lavinia Mountstephen born circa 1830 [nee WALLS] She to was entering a second marriage

This is what I think may be a sketch of the woman of interest, first husband and family. Along with what we believe could be her mother and siblings.

I would like you to run your expert eye over this info and give your suggestions.

    Mountstephen File…………….

    1/ Lavinia WALLS b. 1830 d. 1888

    2/ William Mountstephen b.1824

Married, Sept 1851 place Truro UK

    Census 1851

3/ Mountstephen William, [ Father of #2] Lodger, 50yrs, Mason, Cornwall.

4/ Mountstephen Richard, [ Son of #3] Lodger. 13yrs, Mason, Cornwall.

    William #2 dies 1874 and Richard #4 dies 1886.

Their parents were William #3 and Maria #5 .

Lavina at age 22 worked as a servant to a Thomas Rodgers [grocer].

    Census

Arrived Australia age 27, Estimated birth 1830,

    Date of arrival 27/7/1857

    Ship; Tartar from London.

    Source Ancestry.com.

1875/1876 Sands Directory gives mention of Mrs Lavinia Mountstephen

    Lavinia’s family could be………..

Elizabeth Walls b. c1801 Housekeeper Cornwall Kenwyn.

    Her brother

William b. c1827 miner, Cornwall, Kenwyn.

    Sister

Emily b. c1844 Scholar, Cornwall, Kenwyn.

Of course I'm hoping you can help with the UK end and not so much the Australian.

The sources the info comes from are Ancestry.com, FreeBDM, and Census pages.

    Best to all, Ray
