for reference - 1851 john is a coal miner and lives in household just with emma . birthplace given as paulton

think you will need the marrige certificate to be sure of getting the right one. there are a few john smiths born around right yer in somerset . there is this one in clutton ( where he married)

There are of course lots of John Smiths around the area in 1841 but this is the most likely - Somerset Clutton 1841

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, I have a copy of the marriage cert, however it lists the father as unknown and no mother listed.

I do believe I have been looking in the wrong town in Somerset, I keep looking in Paulton, not Clutton, I must have misread some of my references.

Probably not. Clutton is the registration district for Paulton
