Thank you Raven for inserting my last posting in the correct forum, sorry I made a booby of that, just another example of my scatterbrain, afraid my old age is catching up on me! Hope you do`nt mind my repeating the request once again, I`m getting a bit desperate.
Still searching for my elusive gt grandmother MARY HANNAH GRANT nee COPELAND
After discovering that the author of the Roots of Buckingham family tree, who had given detailsof Mary Hannah`s death for 1919, knew nothing about her, I could have screamed with frustration!
So, its now back to the drawing board, wondering where she could have gone, without knowing if she remarried and changed her name I have no hope of finding her.
Yet its strange that her husband George Nelson Grant remarried in 1910 stating he was a widower
He had been with his "wife" Annie Packer since 1891 without going through a marriage, why suddenly remarry in 1910? surely he must have been notified that Mary Hannah had died? or am I wrong?
Does anyone know of Mary Hannah, is she one of your ancestors?
I would so love to solve this mystery and find out what happened to her
Sadly my mother never told me anything about the family or their past, I`m sure she must have known, she always made it her business to know everything within the family past and present, she loved to be the one who knew everything! However, she never would answer any questions.
I would be so grateful if anyone can offer any advice on how I can track
Mary Hannah, she appeared to disappear after 1881, she was last seen on the Scottish 1881 census with her husband and my grandmother Mabel Grant
Normally they lived in Derby, but may have been in Scotland visiting relatives at that time
by the 1891 census, George Nelson had a new "wife" Annie Packer
but did not marry until 1910, he was then living in Leicester but married Annie in Derby.
