Thread: Please help, Lesley Harrison born 1911 parents

I am trying to follow the Harrison Family back as far as I can.

Lesley Harrison was my Grandfather, but died when I was 6mths.

He was born 22/05/1911 in Croxley Green, Herts. This is on his birth certificate.

I couldn't find any further relative information except that his father was called Raymond whom married florence. I would love to be able to find out more, his brothers and sisters, grandparents etc.

Also, when they moved to kent? as this is where he married my grandmother and we all still live.

There was a marriage registered in Watford Jul-Sept qrt 1905, vol 3a page 1493.



Raymond Harrison and on the same page Florence Smith.

Oh Thankyou.............been dying to know what her maiden name was!



Now can look for her birth etc, and maybe try and find out more about the harrison side of things.

Her maiden name should be listed on her son's birth certificate. It should also give his father's occupation. His first name (according to the birth indexes) was Leslie not Lesley and he had middle initial G.

As Smith is a very common name, I would suggest you get the marriage certificate first. This will give her age and also hopefully her father's name and occupation which will enable you to find the right lady.

I only have a copy of the short version of his birth certificate, so no mothers name........and have run out of funds to continue at the moment. Also, can't purchase marriage certificate so will have to wait.

Ok. I would advise you to save up and get both certs just to be on the safe side. Lots of people get their line back to the 1700s only to discover they've been following the wrong people. It's easily done.



A thing you could do, is to use the address Leslie was born at to find nearest parish churches. You could then ask someone who goes to relevant records office to look for Leslie's baptism or his parents' marriage. Or you could go to an LDS centre and order microfilm of the relevant parishes. There's a fee for this, but it's less than £7.
