Hi,
I'm trying to find out when/where Frederick George Hitch (b.April 1894) was christened. He was born in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire to Richard and Louisa Hitch and would have been christened in the area. Any help would be much appreciated.

According to Genuki there are 3 Wisbech churches
Wisbech
but I think these are all C of E. Your chap may have been another denomination or one which doesn't do baptisms.
- St Augustine [baptism records at Wisbech museum]
- St Mary [baptism records at Wisbech museum; microfilm at Cambridge Records Office]
- St Peter [baptism records at Wisbech museum, which has indexed transcripts]
Hi Hope you dont mind me joining in on the search..Frederick was born one year later or there abouts so maybe he was Christened in the same church his parents were married?
Births Jun 1894 (>99%) Hitch Frederick George Wisbech 3b569
This is Fredericks parents marriage...
Marriages Jun 1893 (>99%) Cole Louisa Downham 4b581
Hitch Richard Downham 4b581
The district Downham spans the boundaries of the counties of Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
Pettican if you get the Marriage Certificate it should mention where Richard and Louisa were married. From there I would contact the Minister of the Church and see if they can offer any help. My brother was born in Wisbech and the Minister found his Baptism Ref at no charge. I,m not saying all churches will do this but its worth a try. Otherwise you can try the Cambridgeshire Family History Society but they do charge a fee.

Thanks Marion - from what I have just been able to find out he was likely to have been baptised in Downham Market, Mount Tabor Free Methodist Chapel.
Thanks for the research.
