Thread: Look up in Inverness Scotland - Please

Can you help please.

My maternal great grandparents: George Dickson dob :1881 & Georgina, nee Fraser dob:1890 had twins, Jamesina Ferguson Dickson & Elizabeth Fraser Dickson dob: 24th July 1911, Elizabeth died 8.12.1911.

The records show that when Jamesina (my maternal grandmother) died on the 27th July 1978 the informant was her brother James Dickson (166 St Ninian Dr, Inverness). I am not able to get further info on Scotlands People (ie.census records)and live in Northampton, not easy to pop up to Inverness to the records office at this time. I would love to find out if James married and indeed if he had any children. This would mean a great deal to me as my own father, Jamesina's son was given up for adoption. This would mean that James would have been my fathers uncle - could I have any relatives up in Inverness? All records show that family and extended family lived in and around the Tomnahurich area. Hope this all makes sense.

Unfortunately Scotlandspeople only have marriages up to 1932 and it looks as if James was married after that.

The most likely death record is 1989 James Hugh Dickson age 76 Inverness/Highland GROS data 240/00 0219.

I think it would be worth buying the death certificate to see who the informant was

Do you have information on the birth of James Hugh Dickson at all ?

His parents - George Dickson dob: 1881 who married Georgina Fraser dob:1890.

Well nothing for certain as at this date you have to order the certificate, you can't look at it online and check the parents. But I looked for James Dickson births Inverness in the years around Jamesina's birth and the only one coming up was James Hugh Dickson 1913 Inverness GROS data 098/A0 0044. You might want to get the birth certificate first to see if it is the right one.
